The NCAA Basketball transfer portal has been one of both intrigue and drama. It’s also been a huge help to plenty of programs when it comes to adding talent. However, it hasn’t been a huge help to some teams, who either haven’t landed any key targets or could use some more.

There’s still plenty of time and likely more transfers to come so these following 10 programs aren’t finished for the 2023-24 campaign. However, things could start to get dicey for them if things don’t work out.

Indiana Hoosiers

It was an excellent start for the Hoosiers this offseason, landing a pair of frontcourt transfers. Payton Sparks is a true center from Ball State, averaging 13.3 ppg and 8.7 rpg. The other pickup, Kel’el Ware, is a former five-star prospect that’ll have the chance to break out as the starting center, replacing Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson in the frontcourt.

Since then, the momentum has stopped for the program. They were heavily after a pair of key transfers in Chris Ledlum and Dalton Knecht, both of whom are shooting guard and wings. However, both of them ended up at Tennessee, which is now Indiana’s rival going forward.

That has opened up some glaring holes on the perimeter. Tamar Bates has transferred out to Missouri, leaving Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal as the projected starters on the roster. And by the way, Xavier Johnson still needs an injury waiver to be able to return for a 6th and final year.

The Hoosiers are going to go back to the drawing board for the next month to find alternative backcourt options. They had a good start but it’s been a rough patch since.
