Commitments so far for St. John’s Basketball

Daniss Jenkins (Iona)

Jenkins was second on Iona in scoring with 15.6 ppg, while leading the team with 4.9 apg. The 6’3 guard had eight games of at least 20 points, including a career-high 31 against Niagara. The former Pacific guard also had a trio of 10-assist games as well, including a near triple-double versus Marist. He’s the projected lead guard for the Red Storm and should be one of the better ball-handers in the Big East.

Sean Conway (VMI)

The 6’5 guard has started the last three years for the Keydets and is coming off a career-high season of 12.1 ppg and 4.9 rpg. Conway shot 38% from three-point range and had six games of at least 20 points, including 28 against Navy on 6/7 shooting from the field. He has good size and is a proven shooter but the concern is how he performs on the defensive end.

Cruz Davis (Iona)

Davis was a rotation player as a freshman, averaging 6.5 ppg on 42% shooting from the field in 19 mpg off the bench. The 6’3 guard had five double-digit games, including a season-high 16 points on 8/13 shooting at Marist. Davis has three years of eligibility left and should serve as a good rotation piece for the program.

Quinn Slazinski (Iona)

The 6’8 forward was limited to just seven games due to an injury this past season but in his lone full year as a junior, he averaged 8.4 ppg and 3.1 apg on 34% shooting from deep. Slazinski has the potential of a stretch four next to Soriano and is a former power conference player, having started his career at Louisville.

Nahiem Alleyne (UConn)

The 6’4 guard spent three seasons as a starter at Virginia Tech, averaging around 10 ppg and 40% three-point shooting. He took a much lesser role at UConn this past season and his numbers dipped but still ended up with a national championship. Right now, Alleyne is a likely starter and the Red Storm are hoping to get the Hokies’ version of him.
