Will DePaul transfer Aneesah Morrow play for LSU, South Carolina or USC?
Aneesah Morrow transfer option – South Carolina Gamecocks
Amazingly, South Carolina women have gone from the clear juggernaut in the sport to a potential “underdog” going forward. After going 36-1, head coach Dawn Staley is losing a ton of production. That includes leading scorer Zia Cooke, along with National Player of the Year, Aliyah Boston.
Five of the top six scorers are gone, with 6’7 center Kamilla Cardoso as the lone returning player with more than 5.0 ppg on the roster. There are a few underclassmen set for bigger roles, while the team has made a big addition via the transfer portal.
The Gamecocks added Te-Hina Paopao, a 5’8 point guard transfer from Oregon. She averaged 13.1 ppg and 3.3 apg this past season and was one of the top three-point shooters in the country. If you watched the Final Four loss to Iowa, that’s a massive need for the program.
If Morrow went to South Carolina, she’s instantly the star of the program and focal point of the offense. And while Coach Mulkey and Reese are the current darlings of the sport, Coach Staley and her program, along with UConn, still reign supreme. If Aneesah Morrow wants to continue producing at a high level, being in the national spotlight, and still having a large role, the Gamecocks may have the best case.
