NCAA Basketball: Top 25 uncommitted players in 2023 transfer portal
By Bryan Mauro
15. Phillip Russell – Guard
Former School: SEMO Redhawks
It is hard to fathom how a player as talented as Russell has not had much in the way of transfer portal visits. At least none have been made public. Russell is a talented player who will likely lead your team in scoring an assists. The point guard averaged 18 points per game to go with 5 assists. He was one of the nation’s leaders in both categories. His play down the stretch of the season helped his Redhawks get to the NCAA tournament.
He is a volume shooter which may be a deterrent for some schools, but a lot of that was the offensive style that was played by the Redhawks. Russell is going to be a diamond in the rough for the team he decides to play for. The point guard can play Power 6 basketball and hopefully, he gets a chance to do so. There are still a lot of teams with a need at Point Guard.
14. Ques Glover – Guard
Former Team: Samford Bulldogs
There are times when a transfer is the best decision for all parties involved and that was the case with Glover. He started his career at Florida where he saw very limited playing time over his two seasons with the Gators. He then decided to transfer to Samford where he led the Bulldogs in scoring in his two seasons there. The Bulldogs run a wide-open offense that many of the great offenses have utilized.
Samford scores a ton of points and Glover was usually scoring the points or creating opportunities for his teammates to score. The guard is not a great three-point shooter but he is very adept at getting to the rim and getting fouled. He can play both guard spots but is better at the off-guard. West Virginia, Minnesota, and Ole Miss are all rumored to have been in contact. The clubhouse leader is Ole Miss.
13. Charles Pride – Guard
Former Team: Bryant Bulldogs
Bryant is a team that has had a bunch of stars transfer out of the program to bigger programs or guys who have transferred in from smaller programs and head coach Jared Grasso has used that influx of talent to put a very exciting team on the floor. The move to the America East was not as easy of a transition for the Bulldogs as everyone thought. Pride was the one player who enjoyed the move as he put up one of the best seasons of his career.
The graduate transfer from Syracuse, New York is one of the best rebounding guards in the country. He is also an efficient scorer who can score from all three levels. He can create his own shot and to top it all off plays fantastic defense. Pride can start for the right Power conference school and he is going to get a chance to prove that. Minnesota, Florida, and Louisville are those teams who have been linked to Pride.
