1. Kentucky Wildcats

So while programs such as Memphis, UCLA, and Arkansas were in the mix for Holland, one team that was viewed as a favorite at one point was Kentucky. He almost was head coach John Calipari’s millionth five-star commit but the Wildcats managed to still pull off the No. 1 overall class for 2023.

Of the five top-30 prospects, three of them are coming on the perimeter (DJ Wagner, Robert Dillingham, Reed Sheppard), as well as combo forward and top-10 commit Justin Edwards and 7’0 big man, Aaron Bradshaw. The power forward position is the one open spot, which was originally supposed to be filled by Holland.

The roster for Kentucky could go a number of different ways, as National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe is one of several players in the NBA Draft process and could either stay or go. One of them is Chris Livingston, a former top-10 prospect that is the only true power forward on the roster. If he’s gone, then either Edwards plays undersized power forward or Bradshaw tries to play the four-spot, which go could go bad if he’s not able to shoot from deep or defend.

There are many selling points that Calipari and Kentucky can provide for any five-star talent but assuming that Livingston isn’t in the picture, has a wide-open spot for Holland to come in. And while there could be some issues playing with young and ball-dominant guards, the free agent frontcourt player may find it difficult to pass up Big Blue Nation for a second time.
