8. Tennessee Vols

Had Holland made this move a week ago, I wouldn’t have thought about Tennessee being a possible candidate. There certainly are some teams in the SEC that’ll be a factor but there’s now another preseason top-15 team and staff that’s on a major recruiting role.

In a span of seven days. Tennessee landed three quality transfers. Jordan Gainey (15.2 ppg at USC Upstate), Dalton Knecht (20.2 ppg and Northern Colorado), and forward Chris Ledlum (18.8 ppg at Harvard) will be in the rotation, working with returning leading scorer Santiago Vescovi and point guard Zakai Zeigler, assuming he’s at full health for next season.

The questions rely in the frontcourt position. Versatile wing Josiah-Jordan James has entered the NBA Draft process, while the status of former five-star freshman Julian Phillips is in the air as both a draft/transfer candidate.

The team has four-star center JP Estralla but if they could handle the four-spot, the Vols could be a preseason top-5 team. Holland would still have a nice role and looking at the offseason roster changes, could be a part of a lethal offense next season.
