Another week, another group of talented NCAA Basketball transfers picked a new landing spot. This week saw several former all-conference players, a nation’s leader in shots blocked and even an All-American that once averaged over 24 ppg.

Here’s a look at the top pickups from the transfer portal and their future impact on their new respective programs.

Honorable Mention: Puff Johnson – UNC to Penn State

The former top-100 prospect had his moments in the 2022 NCAA Tournament but largely was a bench player that couldn’t get minutes for the Tar Heels. Johnson has a chance for a much larger role at Penn State and new head coach Mike Rhoades.

HM: CJ Fulton – Lafayette to College of Charleston

The 6’2 guard is one of few transfers to average 10+ ppg, 5+ rpg, and 5+ apg last season, all while shooting 39% from three-point range on five attempts a game. Fulton, who has two years left of eligibility, goes to a 31-win Charleston squad looking for a new lead guard to replace Ryan Larson.

HM: Cam Hayes – LSU to East Carolina

Hayes averaged 8.1 ppg and 2.3 apg in 18 starts and shot 40% from the field for LSU and will transfer down to the AAC level. The 6’3 guard will replace Javon Small and hopes to be the third straight guard for ECU that has a breakout year statistically on offense.

HM: Chico Carter – South Carolina to DePaul

Carter is a 4-year transfer that played at both Murray State and South Carolina and was a starter for the first time last season. He averaged 9.8 ppg and 1.6 apg, shooting an impressive 48% from three-point range. He goes to the Blue Demons and replaces star guard Umoja Gibson, who led them in both scoring and rebounding.
