2. BJ Mack – Wofford to South Carolina

2022-23 season stats: 16.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg

Mack is a 6’8 four-man that’s one of the top power forwards in the entire transfer portal this offseason. He shot 38% from three-point range in the past two seasons and had nine games of at least 20 points, including 28 and 10 against UNC Greensboro. Mack had 8+ points in every game and has been a consistent offensive force in the SoCon team.

South Carolina beat out the likes of Iowa and Alabama for his services and has found its replacement for star freshman and leading scorer GG Jackson. He joins two other forward pickups from this offseason in Stephen Clark from The Citadel and Myles Stute of Vanderbilt.

1. Max Abmas – Oral Roberts to Texas

2022-23 season stats: 21.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 4.0 apg

It was an easy week when it comes to deciding who the No. 1 transfer pickup was. Abmas is a multiple-time Player of the Year winner in the Summit League, averaging 21.9 ppg on 37% three-point shooting on nearly 10 attempts a game. He had a pair of 40+ point performances as a sophomore and has shown the ability to go off against both mid and high-major opponents.

Texas was in need of a lead guard this offseason after losing both Marcus Carr and Sir’Jabari Rice. Having Abmas next to Tyrese Hunter in the backcourt should work in the Big 12 and with the frontcourt set thanks to landing Virginia transfer center Kadin Shedrick, look for the Longhorns to keep being a contender in the first full year of head coach Rodney Terry.
