4. RaeQuan Battle – Montana State to West Virginia

2022-23 season stats: 17.7 ppg and 2.9 rpg

Battle is a 6’5 guard and former top-100 prospect that struggled at his first stop at Washington but had his breakout year as a senior in the Big Sky. He led the team in scoring and had some big outings, including 20 points versus Oregon, 32 against Sacramento State, and 27 points against Kansas State in the NCAA Tournament.

Battle joins a brand new battle at West Virginia, which includes Arizona transfer Kerr Kriisa and former Manhattan guards, Jose Perez and Omar Silverio. He’s a power conference athlete and the hope for the Mountaineers is that he finally found his scoring ways this past season with extended minutes. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Battle started on Day 1.

3. Primo Spears – Georgetown to Florida State

2022-23 season stats: 16.0 ppg and 5.3 apg

Spears is one of the best pure mid-range shooters in NCAA Basketball and when he gets hot, can drop 30 points in a given game. The 6’3 guard had 37 points and 11 assists against Xavier and dropped 26 versus Providence late in the season.

Florida State needed a guard that can create their own offense after both Caleb Mills and Matthew Cleveland transferred out. Jalen Warley is back but he’s not much of an offensive threat. He and Spears could work together in the backcourt if the newcomer can play more off-ball. There’s also the question of eligibility since Spears will be a two-time transfer after just two years.
