NCAA Basketball: Duke, Gonzaga, and WVU rise in latest WTE ’23-24 power rankings
14. Texas A&M Aggies
This is a difficult spot for me with the Aggies because they could lose several players from the 25-win rotation or just one. Dexter Dennis is the lone guard that can’t come back, while big man Julius Marble and 13.3 ppg scorer Tyrece Radford still have decisions to make. Losing Radford would sting since he’s a good two-way player that fits the system.
Who the team does have back is Wade Taylor. The 6’0 guard led Texas A&M with 16.3 ppg and 3.9 apg on 36% shooting from three-point range while having 12 games of at least 20 points, including a season-high 28 against Alabama. Three-star guard Bryce Lindsay will join the roster to provide depth in case Radford isn’t around.
The big pickup for the Aggies is Jace Carter, a 6’5 wing from Illinois-Chicago coming off a breakout sophomore year. He led the Flames with 16.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg on 46% shooting from the field. He played 35 mpg and is a legit versatile player that Texas A&M can benefit from on both ends.
The usual suspects in the SEC have been getting most of the attention but Texas A&M is quietly having a roster capable of competing with any of them. Once we know what Marble and Radford do, this could be a top-10 team at some point next season.
