22. Miami Hurricanes

A year ago, Miami was a clear offseason “winner”, thanks to landing both Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier. Both were massive gets and helped lead the team to its first Final Four appearance in program history. However, they’ve been a big “loser” a month into the offseason, having not landed a single transfer.

It’s not like the Hurricanes don’t have roster needs. They got clarity with star guard and ACC Player of the Year Isaiah Wong, who is going pro and not coming back for a 5th year. He led the team with 16.2 ppg and 3.2 apg. The good news is that Pack is back after averaging 13.6 ppg and 40% three-point shooting to run the offense and starting guard Wooga Poplar is back as well.

A case can be made that the bigger loss is Jordan Miller, a wing that was second on the team with 15.3 ppg and 6.2 rpg. The 6’6 combo forward was a breakout star as a senior and played perfectly next to Omier. The team doesn’t have a real replacement for him, especially after missing out on Dayton transfer Mustapha Amzil.

The hope for the program is that they land Florida State transfer wing and leading scorer Matthew Cleveland. They’re one of three programs in the mix for him, along with Auburn and Missouri. If the Hurricanes miss out on him, the options to find starters will be few and make it a worrying situation.
