Big East Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2023-24 season
By John Makuch
2. Xavier Musketeers
Losing key transfer last year Souley Boum and veteran Jack Nunge are going to be hard replacements, but the portal has been kind to this squad from Cincinnati.
They get a big Nunge replacement in 6’9 Logan Duncomb who comes in from Indiana. He did not get a lot of burn for the Hoosiers and missed the end of the year, but he can be developed under this Sean Miller regime.
Dayvion McKnight and Quincy Olivari also come in as guards looking to fill the hole that will be left by Boum’s departure.
They also get Zach Freemantle back who was missing towards the end of the last season due to injury issues.
Desmond Claude will also look to take the next step in his sophomore season for the Musketeers, as he adds a younger presence to this lineup.
Xavier is a healthy mix of veterans, transfers, and young talent as they also bring in four recruits in this incoming class.
This class includes three four-stars in point guard Trey Green, and two forwards Dailyn Swain and Reid Ducharme.
This roster will have a new look to it, but they have enough of the core still here that these new faces only add to what made them great last year.
Second is probably their peak, but they have all the tools to get the job done and surprise some people.
