Big East Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2023-24 season
By John Makuch
11. Seton Hall Pirates
The Pirates hailing from South Orange, NJ have seen their share of struggles over the past few weeks and will need to make their impact heard in the transfer portal to build a competitive roster.
As of now though, they have lost a good deal of their expected roster with a de-commitment from Isaiah Watts, and the losses of guys like Femi Oduakle, Tyrese Samuel, and Tray Jackson.
At the current moment, second-year head coach Shaheen Holloway has a great deal of work to do to field a competitive roster next season.
Kadary Richmond and Al-Amir Dawes will be the top scoring options that this team will rely on, but defensively there could be some trouble.
With the loss of Tyrese Samuel, the team lacked a quality big man besides walk-on Elijah Muhammad until they added in a transfer from Austin Peay, Elijah Hutchins-Everett.
They were also able to go out and get Dylan Addae-Wusu from St. Johns, but still need some extra depth.
A lot remains up in the air though, and this team is expected to bring in a number of transfers still to come and could rise these rankings as the offseason continues.
Other teams in the Big East Conference have much more stable situations, and until Seton Hall figures out theirs, then they will be sitting near the bottom of this conference for the foreseeable future.
