Big East Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2023-24 season
By John Makuch
10. DePaul Blue Demons
DePaul finds themselves around this area of the conference often, although they were able to take down Seton Hall in the first round of the Big East Tournament.
However, the Blue Demons have some key departures heading into 2023-2024, and that includes several contributors who got them as far as this team did in their conference tournament.
You lose players like Umoja Gibson, Nick Ongenda, and others, but as usual, this is a roster that will continue to have a lot of turnover year after year.
Coach Tony Stubblefield hit the transfer portal once again for this DePaul squad, he snagged South Carolina transfer Chico Carter Jr. while also getting two solid forwards in Jeremiah Oden from Wyoming, and Jaden Henley coming in from Minnesota.
The Blue Demons are hard to predict if they will make that next step and pick up a few more wins than they did the year before in this great Big East Conference, but when you talk about teams building and sustaining themselves through the transfer portal, DePaul is the team to watch when it comes to following that.
These bottom few teams could flip around with a good offseason, but as of now they just have a bit more than Seton Hall, although things can change quickly.
