Big East Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2023-24 season
By John Makuch
8. Butler Bulldogs
The Big East always has some chaos, and the come-up of Butler may just be the chaos that this conference sees this season.
While the loss of Chuck Harris will be felt, Thad Matta hit the transfer portal hard and made some huge changes to this roster.
This biggest transfer of them all had to be St. John’s guard Posh Alexander who emerged as one of the better guards in the conference last season.
Butler also added players such as Pierre Brooks from Michigan State who are expected to slot in and make this team competitive.
Butler brings in five transfers and two freshmen this incoming season, and this team will look much different than last year, which can be a good thing or a bad thing.
From what it seems now though, this team is going to be a bit more physical, and have better talent in their lineup come the beginning of the season, and this team has a real chance to make a push in this conference.
This is a team that can either find itself at this sixth spot or end up near the bottom if things go wrong.
Just based on what has been happening around this conference though, watch out for the Bulldogs to surprise some people and catch the eye of those around the Big East in 2023-2024.
