Georgetown Hoyas

Likely to miss out on Hunter Dickinson, Georgetown, and new head coach Ed Cooley are in serious need of a big man to be the focal point of the offense. Right now, they have Ryan Mutombo, Akok Akok, and UNC freshman transfer, Dontrez Styles in the frontcourt and none of them are proven offensive contributors.

Nelson would be the unquestioned focal point of the offense and back in his days at Providence, Coach Cooley has a good history of developing frontcourt players. He’d be on the national radar in the Big East and put up big numbers as the No. 1 option.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Right now, the Illini are waiting on forward Coleman Hawkins and his NBA Draft decision. If he leaves, that opens a space for Nelson to start next to Dain Dainja in the frontcourt and would be an obvious replacement for Matthew Mayer. And while the two are different players, it would be an opportunity for Nelson to expand his range and be more consistent from deep.

Illinois reportedly has great NIL and Grant would be a beneficiary of that for sure as the team’s big offseason pickup. And if they also land Toledo point guard transfer Rayj Dennis, they’d be a preseason top-15 team for next season.
