It’s been a good offseason so far for Pittsburgh Basketball when it comes to roster construction. Most importantly, they haven’t lost any key transfers outside of backup wing Nate Santos, and assuming leading scorer/rebounder Blake Hinson is back from the NBA Draft process, have what’s left of the eligible core back.

The Panthers have also done some work in the transfer portal, landing High Point wing Zach Austin, as well as Rhode Island guard Ishmael Leggett, who led his team with over 16 ppg. The program still has a couple of roster spots left and for the past couple of weeks has been focused on one player in Noah Thomasson.

A 6’3 guard originally from Texas, Thomasson started his career at Houston Christian, before transferring and breaking out at Niagara. He posted career-highs this past season, leading the Purple Eagles with 19.5 ppg and 3.5 apg, shooting 39% from three-point range.

Thomasson is one of the top combo guards left in the transfer portal and has a couple of years left of eligibility. The veteran playmaker has announced a list of five options, with the Panthers being in the mix. He’s gone on four visits already and the Steel City is the last of them this week.

Does Pittsburgh ultimately win out his recruitment when he decides on May 10th? Here’s a closer look at their chances and how he’d fit with the program compared to the other four options.
