Rhode Island Basketball: Impact of Rams landing Louisiana Tech forward David Green
Brick-by-Brick, Rhode Island Basketball continues to build for the future of their program. Assistant Coach Kenny Johnson has done it again, landing Louisiana Tech forward David Green.
Since the end of the college basketball season, Coach Archie Miller and his staff have understood the importance of the transfer portal. The Rams have landed four transfers and two JUCO products this offseason, and their most recent commitment came Wednesday night.
Rhode Island plans to welcome Louisiana Tech forward David Green this Fall. The sophomore forward hails from Apopka, Florida, and has spent the last two seasons with the Bulldogs after starting his collegiate career with Hofstra during the COVID season.
Last season, he appeared in just six games, making two starts for Louisiana Tech due to injuries. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 6.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and shot 35 percent. He even broke out for a career-tying 21 points off the bench in a 92-65 loss to Wyoming.
The Rams’ priority this offseason was guards with the departure of Ishmael Leggett, Sebastian Thomas, Malik Martin, and Louis Hutchinson; however, that shifted when Alex Tchikou announced that he would hit the portal on April 20th.
Green joins Rhody’s frontcourt, consisting of Josaphat Bilau, Tyson Brown, Jeremy Foumena, and Rory Stewart. The Rams have one open scholarship remaining, so it should be interesting to see which direction they go.
This incoming class is guard heavy as it consists of freshmen Connor Dubsky and Cam Estevez, High Point transfer Jaden House, Quinnipiac transfer Louis Kortright, Bradley transfer Zek Montgomery, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M transfer Always Wright.
The Rams are connected to Tulsa forward Tim Dalger. They are also tied to Class of 2024 guard Jalik Dunkley-Distant, who will play his upcoming senior season at Orangeville Prep which is the alma mater of forwards Jeremy Foumena and Rory Stewart.
We can expect URI to play more together next season as they have recruited toward Coach Archie Miller’s style, and the roster consists of all players recruited by the current coaching staff.
