Unfairly or not, college basketball has long had a reputation as a sport that fans tune in to for just one month. With the recent explosion in popularity of the transfer portal, though, even hardcore fans that begin paying attention in November will find themselves lost when the season rolls around. Much like the NFL and NBA, college basketball has become a sport with year-round intrigue.

No longer is it enough to know your team and an incoming freshman recruit or two. Entire college rosters are being transformed overnight thanks to the transfer portal, and enterprising coaches can reshape their teams faster than ever before.

ACC Basketball is just one of many conferences that are swept up in these winds of change. Everyone from new Georgia Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire to longtime Virginia head coach Tony Bennett has been hard at work on the transfer recruiting trail, bringing in players from all over the country to help chase down this past season’s top teams, Miami and Duke. Two players on our list have even transferred from one ACC school to another, something that never would have happened in the past.

Some of the top players in the conference, such as Caleb Love of UNC, Jesse Edwards of Syracuse, and Matthew Cleveland of Florida State, are leaving the ACC for new homes, but there’s no ignoring the new talent coming in. Many of these incoming players figure to play pivotal roles in next season’s ACC race, and there are even more notable names that didn’t quite make our lists, such as Skyy Clark of Louisville, Andrew Rohde of Virginia, and Tyler Nickel of Virginia Tech.

Other big names may commit to an ACC school after this article publishes (I’m looking at you, Tre White, and Joe Girard). With that in mind, let’s take a look at ten transfers that, as of now, project to have some of the largest impact in the ACC next year.
