When it came to the 2023 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, just about every prospect had committed to a school from the top 100. Due to a couple of coaching changes, there are a couple of open spots. The one that has always been open was the status of Bronny James, a consensus four-star recruit that has seen his stock rise in the past year.

Bronny is the oldest son of LeBron James, the all-time leading scorer in NBA history and four-time champion. He’s one of the greatest players in history and his status alone makes his children, including class of 2025 forward Bryce James, some of the most notable recruitments in the recent NCAA Basketball era.

Overall, it’s been extremely quiet recruitment for Bronny James. He never put out a list of teams that were officially in the running, so we had to wait for reports from insiders. Three teams that were linked with the top 50 recruit are Ohio State, Oregon, and USC.

After participating in the McDonald’s High School All-American game, his recruitment went into high gear and rumors were swirling that a decision was set to be made. And this weekend, James has finally picked a new home.

It’s a massive pickup for the USC Trojans, who made the NCAA Tournament this past season but will be rebuilding its backcourt. There is plenty of impact with this decision for the team, player, and sport overall. Here are my takeaways of what this means going forward.
