USC Trojans instantly become a must-watch team next season

Being in Los Angeles, the Trojans have had a few marquee freshmen join them. In the past 15 years, they had top-3 prospect Evan Mobley, along with OJ Mayo, who was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2007 class. According to 247sportsComposite, James is in the top-40 and not a consensus five-star commit.

Still, from a notoriety standpoint, the son of LeBron James will have the most attention of any player in USC Basketball history. It may even surpass the Zion Williams experience a few years ago at Duke. The reason why I can’t be sure of that is that USC is in the Pac-12, a conference that has been relegated to just what happens between UCLA and Arizona.

USC is heading to the Big Ten for the 2024-25 season and if James is around just one year, he’ll be just in the Pac-12. The “east coast bias” could come into play since most of their games come down to 11:00 pm ET tip times.

That being said, if James and the other guards can lead the Trojans toward being a top-25 team and fun to watch, folks will be willing to stay up and watch the show. The immense media scrutiny that’s set to come will be interesting to watch and adds another compelling storyline for the 2023-24 campaign.
