6. Dusan Mahorcic – NC State Wolfpack

2022-23 season stats: 8.7 ppg and 6.6 rpg

The 6’10 big man started the first nine games of the past season for NC State and was fairly effective, shooting 64% from the field. Mahorcic had 13 points and six rebounds against Butler, along with nine points and 13 rebounds versus Elon. He’s been an effective D-I player also back at Utah and Illinois State and is a solid two-way player when on the court.

Mahorcic suffered a season-ending back injury and isn’t fully cleared, which has hampered his recruitment on the trail. Yet he’s a talented big man that has one year left and even if not 100% healthy, could provide a backup center role to another power conference team.

5 (a). Jimmy Bell – West Virginia Mountaineers

2022-23 season stats: 4.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg

Bell is one of the bigger centers in the portal, listed at 6’10 and 270 pounds, and even has been playing football. He started the past 34 games for the Mountaineers this season, playing 19 mpg. The big man isn’t much of an offensive threat, with more scoreless games (7) than double-digit games (5).

Bell did have a few big games, including 15 points and 12 rebounds against TCU and a season-high 18 points and 10 rebounds versus Buffalo. He has one year left of eligibility and also started two years at Saint Louis before going JUCO and will provide a huge body that can eat up minutes at any stop.

5 (b). Aziz Bandaogo – Utah Valley Wolverines

2022-23 season stats: 11.5 ppg, 10.4 rpg and 2.9 bpg

One of the top shot-blockers in NCAA Basketball this past season, the 7’0 center was a breakout star after transferring from Akron after a limited role. He was a double-double machine as well, including an 18-point, 16-rebound, and 6-block performance against Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Bandaogo was the WAC Defensive Player of the Year as well for UVU but needs a waiver in order to avoid sitting out a season. That could very well hold up his recruitment for the time being.
