We are entering the slow portion of the offseason as most teams are rounding out their rosters for the upcoming season. This is no different for Head Coach Dennis Gates and Missouri Basketball. Much like last season, Coach Gates is loading up on talent from the transfer portal to fill the open spots on his roster.
While we won’t see a complete overhaul of the roster this year, like we did last year, the impact of the new members of the team plucked from the transfer port will be just as valuable in building on the success of an NCAA tournament run.
Trying to replace the production lost this offseason with the departures of D’Moi Hodge, DeAndre Gholston, and possibly Kobe Brown will be no easy task. Missouri might be losing their top three scorers off last year’s team. Hodge and Gholston ran out of eligibility and Brown entered his name in the NBA draft while retaining his final year of eligibility. If Brown does return that will complicate things from a roster math standpoint, but he would undoubtedly be the leader of the team once again.
With almost all of the roster spots filled, there are still a few questions remaining this offseason. Will there be another addition to the transfer portal? Will Kobe Brown return for his final year of eligibility after declaring for the NBA draft? Will Isiaih Mosley announce his return? It appears that whether all of these things happen or none of them do, Coach Gates will have all of his bases covered. Until we have definitive answers to those questions, I thought it might be a good idea to take a look at the four transfer portal additions so far this offseason.
