6. Brandon Gardner

A top-75 prospect, Gardner was at one point, a commit to St. John’s. He de-committed once head coach Rick Pitino was hired and outside of being linked to Grand Canyon, it’s been dead silent with his recruitment. He’s a talented power forward and there aren’t many available either via the 2023 class or the transfer portal so we’ll see where Gardner ultimately ends up.

5. Papa Kante

The top-100 center prospect de-committed from Michigan, who could’ve used him after losing star big man, Hunter Dickinson. Early on, Alabama looked to be the team most interested, evening reportedly having a meeting with the center. But outside of Villanova and a couple of other programs, it’s been quiet on Kante’s front as well.

4. Ty-Laur Johnson

Johnson was a commit at Memphis until both sides parted ways a few weeks ago. He’s a top-70 true point guard that can score and now that Bronny James is off the board, Johnson is now the best incoming freshman ball-handler in the 2023 recruiting class. With more and more point guards from the portal being taken, look for the former Tiger commit to becoming more of a focal point on the trail.
