Texas Tech Basketball: Analyzing transfer targets Keshad Johnson and Warren Washington
As everyone has known by now, Texas Tech Basketball has undergone a coaching change. The only difference between them and everyone else from this offseason was how long it occurred. They parted ways with Coach Mark Adams very early on and although they had their sights on one guy, (Grant McCasland) they had to wait a long time to hire him officially.
Once North Texas won the NIT Tournament and McCasland could join the program, he had to make up for lost time on the recruiting trail in the transfer portal. As expected, there was a large roster exodus that occurred.
Senior leading scorers Kevin Obanor and De’Vion Harmon have moved on, while Fardaws Aimaq, Daniel Batcho, Elijah Fisher, and Jaylon Tyson all transferred out. That leaves freshman guard Pop Isaacs as the lone double-digit scorer returning to the roster. And in a Big 12 that’s as good as ever on paper, it’s going to be tough to compete from a roster standpoint.
The goods for the Red Raiders are that they managed to land a pair of transfers in Chance McMillian and Darrion Williams and have the roster number up to 10 guys. That means that there are three scholarships available left for them to work with and reportedly, there are a couple of visitors that could be instant starters for the program.
Here’s a look at who has already joined Texas Tech Basketball this offseason, as well as who could be joining them in a couple of weeks if things go well.
