Missouri

Dennis Gates has been extremely active both as a recruiter and in the Transfer Portal since taking over in Columbia last year. The Tigers surprised many by making the NCAA Tournament in his first season and advancing to the second round, though Missouri has their eyes on bigger prizes. For now, they’re experiencing a bit more roster turnover, having already landed transfers like Caleb Grill and John Tonje to add to this roster.

There’s not a ton of size for the Tigers, especially if Kobe Brown is not back next season. Kaluma slides in nicely as a replacement for Brown and can likely be depended on as a high-level scorer. Kaluma certainly wasn’t option #1 at Creighton and likely wouldn’t be in Missouri, but he’d have the chance to evolve his game and cause all kinds of havoc in the SEC.

North Carolina

Year one under Hubert Davis saw a surprise trip to the national title game but year two was full of disappointment and underperforming. The Tar Heels will look plenty different next season, even with Armando Bacot and RJ Davis both back in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels added Harrison Ingram from Stanford, Cormac Ryan from Notre Dame, and Paxson Wojcik from Brown, but might not be done adding.

At the moment, the Tar Heels are leaning heavily on Jae’Lyn Withers and Jalen Washington in the frontcourt and Kaluma would be a massive upgrade for next season. Remember, Kaluma is a rising name who had a slightly disappointing sophomore season for Creighton, though it’s hard to be too disappointed when you average nearly 12 points a game and appear in the Elite Eight. Perhaps he could be another prominent addition for a Tar Heels team in serious need for a refresh.
