Michigan Wolverines

With the Hunter Dickinson transfer saga behind them, Michigan needs to continue building out its roster. The wing position is one of a big need with both Jett Howard and Joey Baker gone. They did land Alabama transfer Nimari Burnett and while he can play the three-spot, he might not even be eligible as a two-time transfer.

Phillips is a high-upside target that the Wolverines can sell on being a focal point. He can excel on the wing like Howard did this past season and Coach Juwan Howard has sent a number of players to the NBA. The former Vol forward could have a nice year in the Big Ten and next to Caleb Love and Dug McDaniel in the backcourt would be a nice group.

St. John’s Red Storm

The Red Storm have added eight newcomers, including Iona transfer forward Quinn Slazinski and Oregon State wing, Glenn Taylor Jr. But considering that the program was recently after five-star forward prospect Mackenzie Mgbako (who they’re now out of the running for), the team certainly can add another forward, one with high potential.

Playing for Coach Pitino is a massive selling point for transfers and although they missed out on a few, could certainly use Phillips as the big offseason pickup to help round out the roster. And for the player in question, could go from playing in the background to on a national stage in Madison Square Garden.
