Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Knights have been fairly quiet this offseason, coming off barely missing the NCAA Tournament. The only addition they’ve made is Noah Fernandes, the point guard transfer from UMass. He’s a needed shooter in the backcourt but his importance will grow depending on what Paul Mulcahy does regarding the NBA Draft process.

He’s currently in there, along with star big man, Clifford Omoruyi. He’s also in the mix and there isn’t a backup play for him, barring forward Mawot Mag playing at the five-spot. The good news is that the team does have Cam Spencer back for an extra year.

The issue is that has the roster gotten better compared to last season? So far, they will have traded Caleb McConnell for Fernandes, who the Knights hope will at least be an even swap. But they could still use more depth in the frontcourt and another shooter.

Rutgers may ultimately have to wait on the two key draft prospects but right now, the roster is at best, destined to be on the bubble again next season. And after not even being in the mix for five-star local prospect Mackenzie Mgbako, they’ll need to find another difference-maker in the offseason.
