Kansas State Wildcats

After making the Elite 8 this past season, new head coach Jerome Tang and Kansas State was definitely a team to watch this offseason. And there looked to be a ton of interest early on, including by All-American mid-major scorer, Max Abmas.

However, the Wildcats were defeated by the Texas Longhorns in the Abmas sweepstakes, which was a sizeable blow to them. Luckily, they responded by landing Tylor Perry, the starting guard at North Texas and last year’s Conference USA Player of the Year. He’s a good pickup but to this point, Perry is the lone transfer for the program.

And that’s an issue for Kansas State and its roster. They already have lost Markquis Nowell and could lose Keyontae Johnson to the pro ranks as well. That’s over 50% of the program’s offensive production from this past season. And right now, the team has just two guards on the roster with D-I experience.

There’s a need for another guard, forward, and a pure shooter at the 2/3 spot. The momentum gained from this past season hasn’t shown on the recruiting trail so far but there’s still time to get things going.
