NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top 8 options for 2024 top-30 center John Bol
USC Trojans
All eyes will be on the Trojans’ backcourt next season, thanks to Bronny James and top-3 incoming freshman, Isaiah Collier. But the frontcourt is in an interesting spot, as center Joshua Morgan and a bunch of underclassmen are in the rotation. That includes a pair of former five-star prospects, Vincent Iwuchukwu and Kijani Wright.
Iwuchukwu is the key here, as he missed most of his freshman season due to a heart issue that occurred in the preseason. If he’s 100% he could have a big year and solidify his role as the starting center for the next couple of years. That would affect how other bigs like Bol look at USC so it’s another option that would need time to see how it fits.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
The Demon Deacons landed a former top-30 prospect in Efton Reid, a transfer from Gonzaga that may or may not have to sit out this season. So there’s going to be some competition at the center position next no matter what, especially since Matthew Marsh is still around.
Coach Steve Forbes is known for developing talent but can he do it at the center position too? He’s been in need of a true center that can be a defensive anchor and Bol would be just that for them. It’ll be interesting to see if Reid’s commitment affects their chances but if not, it would be the biggest pickup in recent Wake Forest history.
