4. Kansas Jayhawks

It’s been a very notable offseason for the Jayhawks, as they’ve been at the center of many NCAA Basketball recruiting battles. They got guards, Nicolas Timberlake and Arterio Morris, along with star transfer center, Hunter Dickinson. The only miss for the program is Mackenzie Mgbako, a five-star wing prospect in the 2023 class.

From a roster standpoint, Johnson could be joining a very loaded roster for the 24-25 campaign. Both Dickinson and starting point guard Dajuan Harris could return for an extra year if they wanted to but odds are good that at least the big man will depart. If Morris is as good as his former five-star status says, he could be a starter for the Jayhawks and potentially slide Johnson to the three-spot, which is definitely open after Mgbako spurned the program.

Kansas has so much going for it as a program. They won the 2022 national championship, is a blue blood that can land just about everyone, and already has a trio of four-star guards that’ll be part of the future rotation.

The main concern with the Jayhawks is the health of head coach Bill Self. He missed the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament due to those issues and while he’s set to return for next season, who knows how much longer he’ll be in NCAA Basketball? Johnson would only need him to be there for one more year but it’s a small detail to keep an eye on.
