2. Baylor Bears

Ever since Baylor won the 2021 national title in a historic and dominating fashion, head coach Scott Drew has been able to unlock a new level of recruiting for the program. Several five-star prospects have since committed, including class of 2024 top-20 small forward, Jason Asemota.

He and top-40 point guard Rob Wright gives the Bears a current top-5 class early on. If they find a way to land Johnson, that would give them the undisputed No. 1 group. And the program is looking to load up on the perimeter since all three starting guards (LJ Cryer, Keyonte George, and Adam Flagler) are now gone.

Baylor’s new group of guards includes VCU transfer Jayden Nunn and incoming five-star shooting guard, Ja’Kobe Walter. How good Walter is as a freshman may have a small impact on Johnson’s decision, as he could be a “one and done” or simply force the Big 12 program to use three-guard lineups to fit everyone.

The Bears have become one of the top programs in NCAA Basketball and besides having a national title on his resume, Coach Drew is known for being one of the better developers in the sport. It went well for George in his freshman season this past season and it’ll likely go just as well for Johnson a year from now.
