NBA Draft 2023: Latest mock draft after San Antonio Spurs get No. 1 overall pick
Jackson averaged 15.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg as a reclass freshman on a very bad South Carolina squad. It wasn’t in good efficiency but the All-SEC forward still had some big games, including 30 points and eight rebounds against Auburn and 20 and 10 versus Florida. He’s a 6’9 forward that’s the youngest player in the entire draft and on a much better roster in the NBA should thrive.
Despite being in the playoff hunt for most of the past season, Utah is going to be rebuilding for the future. Jackson may have top-5 potential but also needs time to develop. The Jazz have time to bring him along and by the time he’s ready to produce at a high level, the franchise can try to compete in the Western Conference again.
Wallace really flew under the radar in his lone season at Kentucky but also was one of the top two-way players in NCAA Basketball. The 6’4 guard went for 9+ assists four times, along with a 27-point game against Florida A&M. He’s a good shooter and proved that he can be a lead guard when Sahvir Wheeler went down.
Atlanta has its backcourt set with Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, though there have been rumors that Young could be on the trading block. Even if both are back, there’s a clear need for a backup guard that can play both on and off the ball and Wallace would be the best option to take outside of the lottery.
