Texas Tech Red Raiders
New head coach Grant McCasland has done a solid job in the transfer portal so far, landing three transfers. But they still need more help in the backcourt to join returning starting guard Pop Isaacs. They did land Grand Canyon transfer Chance McMillian but he’s not a proven power conference talent.
With the loss of Jaylon Tyson, De’Vion Harmon, and Elijah Fisher, there’s a definite need for the wing position. Lawrence would not only be a clear starter but he’d also become a focal point on the offense for the Big 12 program. Plus, he’d improve on the defensive end for a Coach that’s had top-5 team defenses in NCAA Basketball.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Head coach Jerry Stackhouse has been linked with multiple open head coaching jobs at the NBA level but assuming he’s coming back, that gives the program the chance to bring back Lawrence. Although they have a good incoming recruiting class, almost all of the veterans on the roster have either graduated or transferred out.
Vandy did land Lehigh transfer Evan Taylor, a 6’6 wing that averaged 14.2 ppg last season. Having Lawrence back would give them a nice backcourt that could be good enough to compete in the SEC. But they’re going to either add a couple more pieces or offer a nice NIL bag to potentially make it worth it for the free agent to come back.
