Miami

Fresh off a Final Four in basketball, the Hurricanes would likely have plenty of suitors for their next conference. They could certainly opt to head back to the Big East, though that wouldn’t play out well due to that league’s lack of football. Though the Hurricanes’ football program has been somewhat weak in recent years, there’s too much history and support to leave it out to dry like that.

Thus, the SEC makes a ton of sense for the Hurricanes. They’d join Florida and conference mate Florida State to create quite the threesome of Florida schools in one league. The Hurricanes certainly are in the best shape in basketball among those schools are their football program has the resources to be competitive eventually in the SEC. Frankly, it’s the most sensible fit.

It’s possible that the Big 12 could be a landing spot for Miami, but it’s hard to imagine Florida State getting added to the SEC and not taking Miami along with them. The Hurricanes have a proud football history that would be in good hands in the SEC. On the other hand, the basketball program has had their best success in program history these last few seasons and Jim Larranaga’s squad would actually fit in well in the current SEC.
