Georgetown
The Hoyas are heading in a brand new direction under new coach Ed Cooley, though that doesn’t mean they’re heading to the Promised Land in year one. This is a roster that shed promising sophomore guards Primo Spears and Brandon Murray, but one that will return Jay Heath for his senior season. Cooley has already landed Jayden Epps from Illinois and Ismael Massoud from Kansas State, but Love would be a game-changer.
Last season, the Hoyas ranked 336% in the nation in 3-point shooting, while their other shooting numbers weren’t much better either. The program is turning a new leaf with Cooley’s regime, but adding someone like Love into the mix could be monumental next season. The Hoyas added some key pieces, but still don’t project as a contender; adding Love could greatly change that and add even more talent to this backcourt.
Indiana
Last year’s Hoosiers squad leaned heavily on star Trayce Jackson-Davis, who won’t be back this season. Freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino isn’t back and the Hoosiers will lean heavily on Xavier Johnson, who missed significant time with an injury last season. Mike Woodson recently got a major win by landing Mackenzie Mgbako, a top 10 rated freshman prospect, but he’s a power forward.
Love would be a major addition for a Hoosiers rotation that lacks talent and depth in the backcourt. Returning guards Johnson and Trey Galloway will get plenty of run, but adding a scorer like Love could be astronomical. Consider also that Indiana was likely one of the finalists for Love in the first round in the Transfer Portal. Landing him would make the Hoosiers a Top 15 team in the preseason and could have them eying a Big Ten crown.
