NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target Michigan de-commit Caleb Love
By Joey Loose
Saint Louis
Yes, the hometown Billikens have a shot to add Love and it’s not just because their school is in the right city. Travis Ford has had his moments leading this program since taking over seven years ago, but landing Love would be a major game changer for both the Billikens and the A-10. With starters Javonte Perkins, Javon Pickett, and Francis Okoro all gone, there are plenty of minutes and productions there for the taking.
One thing Saint Louis has going for them is that they still have Yuri Collins, who’s led the entire nation in assists the last two seasons. A backcourt of him and Love would be downright scary in the A-10, let alone on the national stage. Saint Louis might not have the overall talent to compete with some of the other teams on today’s list, but there are few teams who would pose a more explosive starting backcourt than Collins and Love.
Texas Tech
It’s been a bumpy ride at Texas Tech in recent years and Grant McCasland is hoping to bring stability to Lubbock. The former coach at North Texas has landed important transfers like Warren Washington from Arizona State and Darrion Williams from Nevada, but have a lot more talent to replace from the Red Raiders’ success in recent years.
Rising sophomore guard Pop Isaacs will be a major player for the Red Raiders next season and pairing him with Love could create quite the backcourt. Texas Tech is another school that certainly needs a boost in the backcourt, having added a few nice pieces in the frontcourt through transfers. McCasland’s work isn’t quite done and Love would give the Red Raiders a chance to contend for relevance in this year’s new-look Big 12.
