Kansas State Wildcats

Coming off an Elite 8 appearance, Kansas State has only been able to land one transfer so far this offseason. It was a big one in North Texas guard and Conference USA Player of the Year Tylor Perry but the backcourt still lacks depth overall.

Pairing Perry and Spencer would be one of the best pure shooting backcourts in NCAA Basketball, as both shot over 40% from three-point range. It would be good enough to compete in the Big 12 and both can co-exist as combo guards in running the fast-paced offense.

Maryland Terrapins

Another Big Ten team with local ties is Maryland, which couldn’t use its DMV connections to land Hunter Dickinson but has an even bigger need at the two-spot. Donald Carey has moved on, while Ian Martinez recently transferred out. They do have four-star freshman Jahnathan Lomothe but if there’s a chance to land a more proven option you have to do it.

Maryland has one of the best-returning trios in NCAA Basketball. Leading scorer and point guard Jahmir Young would be an excellent backcourt mate to pair with, while forwards Donta Scott and Julian Reese will give them more room to work with since opposing teams have to focus on them. They’re a good team right now that can become even better with Spencer on board.
