Rayj Dennis transfer options – Baylor Bears

The Bears have been fairly quiet this offseason, almost too quiet. They lost all three starting guards for various reasons, with each averaging at least 15 ppg last season. That includes LJ Cryer, who opted to transfer to Houston. So far, the team has added just one transfer from the portal in Jayden Nunn, an athletic guard that averaged just under 10 ppg in two years at VCU.

The current backcourt rotation features Nunn, two returning guards in Langston Love and Dantwan Grimes, along with a pair of promising freshmen. Ja’Kobe Walter is a five-star shooting guard, while Miro Little is a top-30 point guard prospect. But none of them are proven at the Big 12 level in extended minutes so a case can be made that they need one more guard to feel good about next season.

Among the options, Baylor has the most prestige. They won the 2021 national title on the strength of a trio of now-NBA guards and Coach Scott Drew is known for his great work with perimeter players, both of the five-star variety or via mid-major transfers.

With top-50 class of 2024 commit Rob Wright and possibly No. 1 overall target Tre Johnson joining Baylor, the program may want to add someone with just one more year of eligibility not to clog up future minutes. So Dennis can not only help out for next season but fit perfectly into the program’s long-term plans as well.
