Arizona Basketball: Wildcats land San Diego State transfer Keshad Johnson

Arizona Basketball has made another splash in the portal by acquiring Keshad Johnson from San Diego State, so what will he bring to the table for this team?
After losing to Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Arizona Basketball has decided to make another splash in the transfer portal by acquiring San Diego State transfer Keshad Johnson.
This time, they grab a player with plenty of experience in the Aztec transfer, who picked the Wildcats over another school that shares their mascot, Kentucky, as well as USC, Oklahoma, and other great programs.
Johnson averaged 7.7 points per game off 53.3 percent shooting along with five rebounds per game in some key minutes for Arizona as a starter, especially during this past tournament run.
He was a decent bright spot in the tough National Championship loss with 14 points and four rebounds, seven of those points coming off free throws. While he did not put up double digits a ton throughout that run, he has still shown growth throughout his college career.
When given more minutes, his numbers continued to improve to where they were this season, and he could be a solid depth piece for this team.
Johnson also had originally put his name in for the NBA Draft but has now decided to play his grad year for an Arizona team that could go out and have another outstanding season.
Arizona has already made a big move in the portal, acquiring Alabama point guard Jaden Bradley not too long ago, and the signings of Motiejus Krivas and KJ Lewis also add to the retooling of this roster.
Johnson adds a veteran presence to this team, as well as the know-how of what it takes to make it all the way to the National Championship.
With the talent Arizona has, he will have to continue to fight for a spot on this roster, but time will tell where Johnson’s role will be this season.
