Power forward

Projected starter: Glenn Taylor (23 mpg)

Reserves: Quinn Slazinski (13 mpg), RJ Luis (4 mpg)

Another proven power conference starter joining the team is Taylor, who at Oregon State, averaged 11.6 ppg and 3.7 rpg on 43% shooting from the field. He was at times one of the lone offensive threats so his playing with much better talent overall can unlock his game.

The thing is, Taylor is only 6’6 and 200 pounds and is more of a fit as a small forward. But he’s athletic and a good enough defender to play at the four-spot and with all of these guards, Taylor sliding over makes the most sense. And the 6’7 Luis has a chance to get some minutes too.

Another interesting point about this roster makeup is that Slazinski is the lone true power forward on the roster. He averaged 11.3 ppg in seven games at Iona this past season before an injury but in his lone full year with the Gaels, the forward produced 8.4 ppg. He was originally at Louisville and averaged 6.2 ppg in 21 mpg.

Unless Slazinski has massively improved, he’s set to be more of a role player than the clear-cut starter for the Red Storm at power forward. The good news is that the team has some great rebounders at the five-spot to handle the potential small-ball lineups next season.
