NCAA Basketball transfer candidate – Tyler Burton (Richmond Spiders)

2022-23 season stats: 19.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg

Due to the lack of team success, Burton has flown under the radar in the Atlantic 10 in past years. He was second in the conference in scoring and is a career 45% shooter from the field. The 6’7 forward posted career-high numbers this past season in 36 mpg and was the lone double-digit scorer on the roster.

Burton scored in double figures in every single game this season, including 38 points against College of Charleston, 28 versus UMass in the conference tournament, and 17 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals against Davidson.

This past season, Richmond finished 15-18 overall and 7-11 in league play, good for 13th out of 15th. And so far, the team hasn’t done much this offseason to make many believe that they won’t be another bottom-tier finisher in the A-10 once again.

We see it all the time in the lower levels for mid-major teams; star players enter the portal after being on losing programs. Burton is a talented combo forward that can score on his own and could be a leading scorer on most teams at the power conference level if he opts to enter the portal. Without any kind of projected status, he’s one to watch for.
