Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers got good news with its backcourt situation for next season, as veteran guard Xavier Johnson is back for a 6th year. He’ll be gone after next season, leaving incoming four-star freshman, Gabe Cupps, on the roster. Considering how much time Johnson will get running the offense, it’s likely going to be hard to see how good Cupps is.

Indiana is going to look for a ball-handler in the 2024 class no matter what and after landing five-star prospect Mackenzie Mgbako recently, there’s clearly momentum for the program on the recruiting trail. We’ll see if it continues in the coming months but there is immediate playing time available Givens here.

LSU Tigers

The Tigers have landed a few ball-handlers this offseason, led by 20 ppg combo guard, Jalen Cook. He’s set to run the backcourt alongside Santa Clara shooting guard transfer, Carlos Stewart. The team also has an incoming freshman ball-handler in four-star Mike Williams.

The one big difference between LSU and an option like Indiana is that Cook still has two years left of eligibility if he wanted to. Maybe if Cook has a big year, he goes pro. But there’s a legit chance that if Givens were to pick LSU, he’d have to be okay with not playing much in year 1 with the Tigers.
