Memphis Tigers

The program has had an interesting offseason regarding ball-handlers to this point. They missed out on Alabama freshman transfer Jaden Bradley, while also parting ways with former four-star commit Ty-Laur Johnson, who is now at Louisville. Plus, five-star commit Mikey Williams may not even play for the Tigers next season, due to legal issues he’s facing back at home in California.

All of this has hurt Memphis for next season but coincidentally set them up well for a 2024 target like Givens. FSU transfer Caleb Mills will only be around for one more year so Givens would not only get to play at home in college but also have immediate playing time and possibly start his freshman campaign.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns lost two backcourt seniors this offseason (Marcus Carr and Sir’Jabari Rice) as well as two underclassmen (Arterio Morris and top-30 former commit AJ Johnson) to this point. That leaves them with Oral Roberts transfer Max Abmas, along with junior guard, Tyrese Hunter.

Abmas has to leave after next season, while Hunter is a pro prospect. The team did land Chendall Weaver from UT-Arlington but he’s likely not a major threat. So there’s a clear path to playing time for Givens in what would be Texas’ first year in the SEC. The only question would be whether or not new head coach Rodney Terry is good enough at this level of coaching and if prospects should trust him long-term.
