Who is Gonzaga Basketball after in the transfer portal?

After the first three transfers, the Bulldogs have slowed things down with the roster building. They have reached out to a few top-tier guys when they enter the portal, including North Dakota State big man Grant Nelson, along with Zyon Pullin from UC Riverside.

Those should be viewed as contingency options in case either Watson or Smith stays in the NBA Draft. If both of them stay, there just isn’t really another large role to offer for one of the top players in the portal.

One player that Gonzaga seems to have made the most inroads with is Caleb Love. He’s a transfer from North Carolina, coming off averaging 16.7 ppg and leading the team to the national title game in 2022. The 6’4 guard has the ability to be an explosive scorer but also can be very inefficient.

Love was originally committed to Michigan but reportedly had to depart due to admission issues. The Bulldogs are one of three new teams in the mix, with Arizona and Texas also involved. If Smith doesn’t come back, I could see the WCC juggernaut making a real push. Otherwise, look for the other two programs to be the frontrunners for his services.
