Coach Archie Miller and his staff received their final commitment on Thursday evening to complete their 2023-24 season roster. Rhode Island Basketball will welcome German league star David Fuchs this Fall.

The Rhode Island Rams boosted their frontcourt with the commitment of David Fuchs. He is a 6-foot-8 forward from Austria; who spent the last two seasons in the German league with Ratiopharm Ulm and its developmental team, Orange Academy.

Last season, he appeared in 17 games for Orange Academy, averaging 16.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and a steal. San Antonio Spurs power forward Jeremy Sochan is one of many alumni from the program.

He also spent time with Ratiopharm Ulm as a reserve this past season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 24 games. The organization has several notable alums, including Daniel Theis, Javonte Green, and Killian Hayes.

Fuchs joins the Rams, becoming the fifth international player recruited under Rhode Island’s current coaching staff led by Archie Miller. That list includes England native Rory Stewart, French natives Josaphat Bilau and Alex Tchikou, who transferred to Detroit Mercy this offseason, and Canada native Jeremy Foumena.

Rhode Island assistant Austin Carroll was the lead recruiter for David Fuchs. The addition improves Rhody’s frontcourt consisting of Josaphat Bilau, Tyson Brown, Jeremy Foumena, Rory Stewart, and David Green.

Fuchs rounds out Rhody’s incoming class, which includes three freshmen, two junior college transfers, and four transfer portal additions. The 2023 class and Rhode Island’s remaining pieces from last season provide depth in all areas, making for an exciting upcoming season in Kingston.

Rhode Island is set to play Northwestern on November 18 in Uncasville and either Mississippi State or Washington State in the second round of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun.

We can expect the Rams to create a more competitive season as their staff has built a roster around Coach Archie Miller’s style.
