Florida State

No matter how you slice it, last season was really bad at Florida State. The Seminoles have recently been one of the best programs in the ACC, making an Elite Eight and a pair of Sweet Sixteens since 2018, but last year was a total collapse. The program finished the season at just 9-23, limping through nonconference play and falling far short of any preseason goals.

Leonard Hamilton, now entering his 22nd season in Tallahassee, isn’t someone to just sit on his hands, and he has restacked this lineup for next year. The highlight of the new additions is point guard Primo Spears from Georgetown. The Seminoles return a number of role players from last year and have added VCU’s Jamir Watkins and Josh Nickelberry from La Salle, rebooting the talent on this roster.

Spears is a big add, and he pairs nicely with Darin Green, one of the top scorers from last season and the most important returning player. Florida State bottomed out last year and should be a bit more competitive in the ACC this season. Hamilton’s done a lot with the talent he’s acquired in recent years and we certainly don’t expect a third straight mediocre season.
