Florida Gators

As another “local” option, it makes sense for Florida to reach out. Newer head coach Todd Golden has to recruit in the state and not rely on his west coast ties. Plus, he can’t use the transfer portal for his entire roster. But right now, he’s unproven, missing out on the NCAA Tournament in his first year with the program.

Among all of the options, the Gators lack a clear appeal. If playing close to home matters, he could simply pick Miami. And there are even better SEC programs to play for if conference affiliation is a key point. The good news for Golden and the Gators is that there is plenty of time to become more appealing to Boozer. But right now, it’s just not a super option on the table.

Kentucky Wildcats

Head coach John Calipari has over a billion dollars worth of NBA contracts for his former players with the Wildcats. If getting ready for the pros matters, Kentucky will have massive appeal. There’s always going to be a ton of talent around him and Boozer would have a chance to play for a national title in his likely lone NCAA Basketball season.

There’s no point in looking at the potential roster since all of the players will be long gone by then. But what about Coach Calipari? There were some whispers that he could leave Kentucky sooner than later and there’s a chance that he and the program could both opt for a new start if they don’t make a deep NCAA Tournament run soon. That future decision will have plenty of impact in the 2025 class for not just Boozer but many others too.
