Memphis Tigers
Coach Penny Hardaway has always had the interest of top prospects due to his status as a former NBA all-star and assuming he has a relationship with Cameron’s father, could play a role in this recruitment. The program has landed top-tier recruits before, including Jalen Duren, Emoni Bates, and James Wiseman. Although they’ve yet to make a deep NCAA Tournament run, they could with Boozer, who would dominate the AAC.
But conference affiliation could be what hinders Memphis as well. Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF have left the league for the Big 12, with multiple Conference USA programs replacing them. Is the lack of prestige for the new-look AAC a potential program in the future when it comes to future classes?
Miami Hurricanes
It’s as good a time as ever for a program to make its first-ever Final Four appearance, especially when there’s a No. 1 prospect in your backyard. Head coach Jim Larranaga is one of the best in NCAA Basketball and assuming that he’s around for the next few years, that’s someone that Carlos Boozer can trust having his son play for.
And unlike Duke, Miami still doesn’t have a ton of history as a basketball program and that would allow Cameron to create his own legacy. Plus, it would be a compelling storyline to play against the Blue Devils in the ACC. We’d have to see how the rest of the roster worked out but this is also the best chance to have both Boozer brothers playing in college while having Cayden in a good spot for the future in case he’s not a “one-and-done” player.
