NCAA Basketball: Top 30 available free agent players in 2023 offseason
15. David Jones – St. John’s Red Storm
2022-23 season stats: 13.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg
The 6’6 forward was a double-digit scorer at both DePaul and St. John’s but isn’t the most efficient shooter, especially from deep. Still, Jones can go for 20+ points any given night and can create his own offense at a high level. He’s a two-time transfer so will need a waiver but there aren’t many combo forwards out there as skilled a scorer as he is.
14. Connor Vanover – Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
2022-23 season stats: 12.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 3.2 bpg
The 7’3 center has been at both Cal and Arkansas but had his best year with the Eagles, including winning Summit League Defensive Player of the Year as one of NCAA Basketball’s top shot-blockers. The grad transfer center has had a fairly slow offseason and he didn’t light the world on fire as a power conference player so it’ll be interesting to see which spot Vanover ends up at.
13. Ernest Udeh Jr. – Kansas Jayhawks
2022-23 season stats: 2.6 ppg and 1.8 rpg
The former five-star prospect was limited with his minutes as a freshman but the 6’11 center still shot over 75% from the field overall, while having potential as a quality interior defender. At one point, it looked as if Udeh was going to end up at Duke. However, reported issues with admissions seem to have halted that for now. Teams such as TCU, OK State, and Memphis have been linked to him as well.
